Real Madrid secure hard fought 3-1 win at home to Leganes

Real Madrid extended their unbeaten La Liga run to four games, with a 3-1 victory at home to Real Sociedad.

Zinedine Zidane's side remain in second place in the La Liga table, behind leaders Barcelona on goal difference, after they fought back to secure a vital victory against Imanol Alguacil's visitors.

The Basque side took a shock lead inside the first two minutes, as Willian Jose capitalised on Sergio Ramos' poor back pass to confidently slot past Thibaut Courtois.

Ernesto Valverde hails important Barcelona win at Leganes

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde was in pragmatic mood following his side's battling 2-1 La Liga win away at Leganes.

Second half goals from Luis Suarez and substitute Arturo Vidal secured a valuable three points for the defending champions, as they remain top of the La Liga table.

However, the former Athletic Bilbao boss acknowledged that their away form continues to be a concern this season.

Arturo Vidal 'aware' of Barcelona form issues

Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal confirmed his worries about their form following a 2-1 La Liga win away at Leganes.

The Chilean midfielder was the late hero at the Estadio Butarque, as he came off the bench to score the winner for Ernesto Valverde's side.

However he admitted in a post match interview that La Blaugrana need to improve if they want to defend their La Liga title this season.

Barcelona fight back for vital 2-1 win at Leganes

Barcelona were grateful to second half goals from Luis Suarez and Arturo Vidal as they picked up a 2-1 La Liga win at Leganes.

La Blaugrana have struggled away from the Camp Nou this season, with just two league wins on the road in 2019-20, however three valuable points at the Estadio Butarque keeps them top of La Liga.

Despite currently sitting bottom of the table, Javier Aguirre's side started brightly, and Youssef En-Nesyri handed them a deserved lead on 11 minutes.

La Liga Line Ups: Leganes v FC Barcelona

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde makes four changes to his starting line up for their La Liga trip to Leganes today.

Valverde is battling with defensive issues at the moment, and hands Moussa Wague a first start of the season at right back, in place of the injured Nelson Semedo.

Sergio Busquets comes in to midfield for the suspended Sergi Roberto, with Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele in attack, in place of Arthur Melo and Ansu Fati, in a reshuffled Barcelona side from the one that beat Celta Vigo 4-1 before the international break.

Leganes confirm appointment of Javier Aguirre

Leganes have confirmed the appointment of experienced Mexican boss Javier Aguirre until the end of the current season.

The club are rooted to the foot of La Liga and went down 2-1 at home to Eibar on Sunday under interim boss Luis Cembranos - who will remain at the club - who had overseen the sole victory of the campaign against Real Mallorca the previous week.
