Willian Jose committed to Real Sociedad

Real Sociedad striker WIllian Jose is committed to staying at the club - despite widespread reports linking him with a summer exit.

The Brazilian frontman has won plenty admirers from within La Liga and across Europe following his move to the Anoeta from Real Zaragoza back in 2016, with 38 goals in 91 league games.

However he is enjoying life under manager Imanol Alguacil, and he has reassured the club's fans that he is not looking to move on this summer.

Chelsea join Willian Jose race?

Chelsea have reportedly joined the race to sign €65m-rated Real Sociedad striker Willian Jose.

According to Marca, Chelsea have contacted Willian Jose’s agent over the possibility of a transfer.

Indeed, Nick Arcuri told the newspaper: “To all those who have approached me, I refer them to Real Sociedad.

“If the clubs reach an agreement and Willian is interested, we’ll study [the offer] with affection.

Fulham want Willian Jose transfer

Real Sociedad striker Willian Jose has emerged as a transfer target for newly-promoted English Premier League club Fulham, according to reports.

The 26-year-old has been prolific signing joining La Real two summers ago, netting 34 goals in 74 appearances for the club.

Reports in the Newcastle Chronicle say Newcastle United believe striker Aleksandar Mitrovic will no longer make his loan move to Craven Cottage permanent because of a potential deal for the Brazilian.

Atleti lose at La Real, Barca on verge

Atletico Madrid’s 3-0 defeat at Real Sociedad has put Barcelona within one victory of their 25 Spanish first division crown.

Diego Simeone’s side, who remain second, fell to a heavy defeat at the Anoeta thanks to an early Willian Jose opener followed by two late strikes from Juanmi.

Brazilian striker Jose opened the scoring in the 27th minute following Adnan Januzaj’s cut-back before former Southampton striker Juanmi doubled the lead with a powerful drive.

Eibar held in La Real stalemate

Eibar failed to take advantage of their superiority in Sunday’s Basque derby against Real Sociedad as their winless run stretched to four games.

The hosts enjoyed the lion’s share of chances and possession – Pedro Leon creating excellent openings for Jose Angel and Joan Jordan in the opening half, both of which were spurned.

Willian Jose (pictured) blasted over when well-placed early in the second half but La Real goalkeeper Miguel Angel Moya was to thank for a string of fine saves.

La Real seal Europa progress

A last minute goal from Mikel Oyarzabal secured Real Sociedad progressed to the Europa League knockout stages with a win at Rosenborg.

La Real dominated proceedings with 15 shots on goal and 67% of the possession but were frustrated by the Norwegian champions until the final minute, when Oyarzabal popped up.

Eusebio Sacristan’s side are now through after winning four of their opening five matches, with Rosenborg and Vardar eliminated.

The Basques will now face Zenit Saint Petersburg in the final game at the Anoeta to decide who tops the group.

Willian Jose bags four in Europa

Four goals from striker Willian Jose put Real Sociedad on course for a comfortable away win at Macedonian side Vardar in the Europa League.

Mikel Oyarzabal opened the scoring for Eusebio Sacristan’s side before the Brazilian netted two goals either side of the break and Alberto De la Bella grabbed a sixth goal late on.

Oyarzabal fifth goal of the campaign came in the 12th minute before Willian netted the first of his four-goal haul in the 34th minute, which sparked a devastating 25-minute spell for the Basque club.

Willian Jose extends La Real stay

Brazilian striker Willian Jose has extended his contract at Real Sociedad by a further year until June 2022, the club have confirmed.

The 25-year-old joined the Basque club last summer following loan spells at Real Madrid, Zaragoza and Las Palmas and has netted 16 goals in 39 appearances.

“I am excited to renew my stay at this club,” Willian told La Real’s official website.

“I’m delighted to be here, I love my colleagues, the staff and the city, while we are looking ahead to a very exciting season.

La Real see off lacklustre Depor

Real Sociedad boosted their hopes of Europa League qualification with a narrow 1-0 victory at home to struggling Deportivo La Coruna.

Striker Willian Jose headed the game’s only goal – his eleventh of the campaign – in the 28th minute to elevate La Real back into sixth space, two points behind Villarreal.

The Brazilian powered home from Yuri Berchiche’s corner to decide a below-par game, with Pepe Mel’s Depor mustering only two shots on target.

Willian Jose blow for La Real

Real Sociedad have been dealt a blow with the news that Willian Jose will miss Saturday’s trip to Granada due to an ankle injury.

Willian Jose failed a fitness test before the game, the striker still carrying the knock in his left ankle from last week’s 3-2 win against Valencia, and he is set to be replaced by Juanmi.

The Brazilian is La Real’s top scorer this season with nine La Liga goals, but Coach Eusebio Sacristan believes the side’s fortunes depend beyond how they cope without the forward.
