Coach Eusebio Sacristan leaves relegated Girona

Girona have confirmed that Coach Eusebio Sacristan has departed the club following their relegation from La Liga.

Nine defeats from their final ten La Liga games saw the end of the Catalan club’s two-year stay in Spain’s top flight, with relegation confirmed via a defeat at Alaves on Saturday night.

Eusebio - who made over 200 appearances for Barcelona as a player - moved to Montilivi in June 2018 but won just 10 of his 44 matches at the helm.

Eusebio hails ‘important’ win

Eusebio Sacristan felt Real Sociedad’s win over Sporting Gijon was “important” to banish the ill feelings of four games without success.

La Real hadn’t win since early March prior to seeing off the struggling Asturians on Monday night, goals from Willian Jose, Juanmi and Yuri Berchiche sealing the points prior to Elderson Echiejile’s consolation.

“There’ve been a lot of things we’ve done well but seasons are very long and there is always a moment of downturn,” the Coach said post-match, Marca reports.
