Ernesto Valverde and Frenkie De Jong caught up in Catalan protests at Barcelona airport

Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde and midfielder Frenkie De Jong were caught in the disruption at Barcelona's El Prat airport following widespread protests in the city.

Protesters occupied the arrials area of the airport on October 14, leading to delays and chaos for thousands travelling in and out of Spain, including a number of famous faces.

Ivan Rakitic was pictured walking out of the airport, and making his own way into the city with transport routes blocked for hours either side of the protests

River Plate boss Marcelo Gallardo dismisses Barcelona links

River Plate manager Marcelo Gallardo has moved to quieten speculation that he could be replacing Ernesto Valverde as Barcelona boss in 2020.

The former Argentinian international has been heavily linked as the frontrunner to replace Valverde, should he leave the Camp Nou at the end of the current campaign.

However, despite the growing rumours of Valverde's exit, and Gallardo potential arrival, he insisted he is only focused on the job in hand with River Plate.

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde has dismissed concerns that he is fighting for his job.
 
The former Athletic Bilbao manager was reported to be under pressure in the summer, after defeats to Liverpool and Valencia denied them a Champions League and Copa del Rey treble.
 
However reports in Marca this weekend claim that it was the intervention of senior squad members that saved his job ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.

Luis Suarez passed fit for Barcelona's clash with Celta Vigo
Barcelona have been boosted by the return to fitness of striker Luis Suarez, ahead of their La Liga tie with Celta Vigo tonight.

Barcelona are a ‘grey’ team in the identity of their Coach Ernesto Valverde, their former midfielder Marc Crosas believes.

Crosas came from the club’s La Masia youth system and starred for their C and B teams, before representing the first-team on a handful of occasions in 2007.

The central midfielder then went on to have stints at Lyon and Celtic before playing in Mexico, but he hung up his boots aged just 29 and has appeared as a TV pundit and analyst since.

Ronald Koeman rejects Barcelona links

Netherlands boss Ronald Koeman has dismissed speculation linking him with a return to Barcelona.

The former Barcelona defender has been linked with a move back to Spain, as a replacement for current boss Ernesto Valverde, with Dutch FA (KNVB) chief Nico-Jan Hoogma hinting that preliminary talks had already taken place.

Hoogma confirmed in an interview with Fox Sports, back in September, that Koeman does have a clause in his contract that would allow him to leave for Barcelona.

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde has no plans to resign

Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has no plans to leave his position in the immediate future.

Valverde was asked about his future following La Blaurgrana's 3-1 defeat away at Levante this weekend, however the former Athletic Bilbao boss stated he has no intention of leaving.

He has come in for criticism so far this season, despite Barcelona topping La Liga, after losing three La Liga games so far this season.

"This (Levante) is just a defeat.

"Of course there is no reason I am thinking of resigning from the club.
