Jurgen Klopp 'rejected Real Madrid approach'

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp turned down an advance from Real Madrid prior to taking up his role on Merseyside, say fresh claims.

Former Reds striker Robbie Fowler has given an interview in which he explained that Klopp informed him that Madrid, along with Manchester United, were turned down by the German.

Fowler goes on to explain that Klopp turned down those clubs because of ‘commercial influences’ and instead accepted the role at Anfield due to ‘identity’ and ‘history’.

Jurgen Klopp rules out Liverpool move for Gareth Bale

Liverpool will not be making a move for Real Madrid star Gareth Bale, according to manager Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds boss confirmed that the Champions League winners would not be making a move for the Welsh international, despite Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane confirming the club are looking to sell the 30-year old.

"Bale is a Real Madrid player, it is as simple as that, the German boss told reporters during Liverpool's pre-season tour of the United States of America.

Klopp: Salah injury ‘very serious’

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp admits his side were ‘shocked’ by Mohamed Salah’s tussle with Sergio Ramos and that his shoulder injury is ‘very serious’.

Ramos was accused of deliberately tugging Salah’s arm in the first half of Saturday’s Champions League Final, which resulted in the winger being taken off and Madrid beating Liverpool 3-1.

“The plan is only to play to win, nothing else, not a lot to say. We started well and played exactly like we wanted to,” Klopp told BT Sport after the game.

Klopp: Sevilla play real football

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is wary of the threat posed by Sevilla, who he has credited for playing ‘real football’.

The German manager has yet to defeat the Andalucian side in five attempts as manager and believes they sum up exactly what makes Spanish sides so strong in Europe.

“I know when the draw was made people were saying we are lucky with the group, but then you watch Sevilla and analyse them and think: 'Oh my God, that's real football,'” Klopp told his pre-match press conference.

Klopp: Coutinho out of my hands

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp concedes Philippe Coutinho’s fate is out of his hands as the attacker tries to force a transfer to Barcelona.

Coutinho handed in a transfer request on Friday, and despite Liverpool’s stance that the Brazilian will not be sold, he missed Saturday’s 3-3 draw with Watford and is likely to also be absent for the first leg of the Reds’ Champions League playoff against Hoffenheim.

Reports on Friday claimed the Blaugrana were willing to pay up to €80m for the former Inter playmaker, with the English giants not entertaining the idea of a transfer.

"That's not for you," Klopp told reporters after being pressed on details of his conversation with the 25-year-old.
