Barcelona eye move for Girona striker Cristhian Stuani

Barcelona may move to sign Girona striker Cristhian Stuani following a long-term injury to Luis Suarez, report El Mundo Deportivo.

The Uruguayan striker netted 19 goals in La Liga last season - only four players score more - following on from his 21 strikes in his debut season in Spain’s top-flight.

Girona forward has confirmed his commitment to staying at the Segunda Division for the remainder of the 2019-20 season.

The Uruguayan international was reportedly the subject of a summer bid from Barcelona, following Girona's relegation from La Liga at the end of the 2018-19 campaign.

Former Celta Vigo and Girona boss Juan Carlos Unzue will not be appointed Luis Enrique’s number two for the Spanish national team.

The report comes from Cadena Cope and follows a report in the same outlet on Monday which claimed Unzue would form part of the new-look team under Enrique.

Juan Carlos Unzue to be Luis Enrique's assistant for Spain

Former Celta Vigo and Girona boss Juan Carlos Unzue is set to be appointed as Luis Enrique’s number two for the Spanish national team.

Former Barcelona boss Enrique stepped down from the role earlier this year due to personal circumstances, with his assistant Robert Moreno stepping into the role.

Moreno – previously number two to Enrique at Roma, Celta Vigo and Barcelona – is said to be very well-liked within La Roja’s squad but has repeatedly said he would step down should Enrique feel he could return to the role.

It will mean that more than half of the Andalusian club’s first-team squad for this season will be comprised of new summer arrivals at the behest of the return of sporting director Monchi and new Coach Julen Lopetegui.

Girona goalkeeper Yassine Bounou linked with Sevilla CF switch

Sevilla CF could make a deadline day swoop for Girona goal keeper Yassine Bounou.

Julen Lopetegui is set to lose current back up goal keeper Sergio Rico as part of a transfer merry-go-round that will see Alphonse Areola and Keylor Navas set to swap places at PSG and Real Madrid. 

Rico is then expected to move to the Ligue 1 champions, as deputy to Navas, for the 2019-20 season.

Portu ruled out of Real Sociedad La Liga kick off

Real Sociedad midfielder Portu will miss the club's first game of the 2019-20 La Liga season through injury.

The 27-year old who completed a €10m transfer from relegated side Girona this summer has been ruled out of action until early September, due to a calf injury he picked up in training.

Manager Imanol Alguacil was set to hand him a starting place in the first game of the new campaign, away at Valencia CF, after impressing during pre-season.

Manchester City loan Pedro Porro to Real Valladolid

Real Valladolid have confirmed they have signed Manchester City defender Pedro Porro on loan for the season.

It comes just days after City signed the defender in a €12m deal from Girona - their Spanish sister club - while Valladolid have an option to sign the player permanently.

Porro, 19, is a Spain Under-21 international and impressed across 35 first-team appearances for the Catalan club last season.

Manchester City sign Pedro Porro, loaned to Real Valladolid

Manchester City have completed the €12m signing of Pedro Porro from Girona, whom they have immediately loaned out to Real Valladolid.

Girona - who were relegated from Spain’s top flight in May - are the sister club of the English champions and they will receive the financial windfall for his permanent exit.

Porro, 19, is a Spain Under-21 international and impressed across 35 first-team appearances for the Catalan club.
