New Real Madrid signing Hugo Vallejo joins Deportivo on loan

Real Madrid’s latest signing Hugo Vallejo has agreed to join Segunda Division side Deportivo la Coruna on loan.

The highly rated 19-year old finally completed his move to Zinedine Zidane’s side earlier, following months of negotiations between Real Madrid and his former club Malaga.

Vallejo had made his intentions clear regarding not signing a new contract at the Andalucian club, however Los Blancos were eager to secure a deal before he became a free agent in June.

Real Madrid send Jorge De Frutos on loan to Rayo Vallecano

Real Madrid midfielder Jorge De Frutos has joined Segunda Division side Rayo Vallecano on a six-month loan deal.

The 22-year old joined Real Madrid in Madrid-based club Rayo Majadahonda in 2018, but he has failed to make a single first team appearance for Zinedine Zidane’s side.

However his impressive form for Real Madrid’s Castilla side did catch the eye, and he was the subject of loan offers in the summer.

Official: Reus avoid closure as players are paid

Reus have confirmed that they are able to continue in the Segunda Division after finally paying their players.

Reus were widely expected to lose their entire squad after Saturday’s match against Cordoba on Saturday and possibly forfeit the campaign.

However, the Catalans announced in a statement that ‘payments to players have been made, which will go through in the next few hours and guarantee our continuity in LaLiga 123.’

Segunda side Reus to lose entire squad

Segunda Divison side Reus will lose their entire squad after Saturday’s game against Cordoba and risk forfeiting the campaign.

Captain Jesus Olmo confirmed in a statement on Friday that he and his Reus teammates had exercised options to terminate their contracts, given they had not been paid as a result of the club’s financial problems.

“We have the option of terminating our contracts and we’ve decided to exercise it because we understand that the situation is already unsustainable,” explained Olmo.

Official: Manolo Jimenez out, Paco Herrera in at Las Palmas

Segunda side Las Palmas have sacked AEK Athens’ title-winning Coach Manolo Jimenez and brought back Paco Herrera to replace him.

Las Palmas President Miguel Angel Ramirez confirmed the news after his club’s 2-2 draw with Granada on Friday, which was their fourth such result in succession.

“Our objective is more ambitious than the results we’re getting right now, so we’ve made the decision to dismiss Manolo Jiménez,” said Ramirez.

Playoffs: Numancia-Valladolid Final

Numancia will take on Real Valladolid in the Segunda playoff Final, with heartbreak for Real Zaragoza and Sporting Gijon.

Numancia’s semi-final with Zaragoza was finely poised at 1-1, but Pape Diamanka’s injury-time finish on Saturday dragged Los Rojillos through to the two-legged showpiece.

A day later, Valladolid had the easier task of preserving a 3-1 lead against Sporting, and they denied the Asturians a shot at a quick return to La Liga with a 2-1 victory at El Molinon.

Segunda: Playoffs decided, Cultural down

Real Valladolid and Numancia have secured the last two playoff spots in the Segunda, while Cultural Leonesa have been relegated.

Cadiz, Osasuna and Real Oviedo also had a chance of sneaking into the top six, but Numancia’s 2-1 win against Cultural and Valladolid’s 3-2 victory over the Pamplonans sealed the deal for the pair in question.

Numancia’s place in the playoffs was particularly notable, given they only pipped Oviedo by the virtue of a superior head-to-head and relegated Cultural in the process.

Rubi set for Espanyol role

La Liga new boys Huesca have confirmed that Coach Rubi is likely to leave the club for Espanyol.

Rubi has emerged as the runaway favourite to fill the void left by Quique Sanchez Flores, after guiding Huesca to their first-ever Segunda promotion.

“It bothers me because I’d have renewed his contract, but the truth is that he’s given us few options, none even,” President Agustin Lasaosa told Cadena SER.

“Still, it’s understandable. Huesca are a team that, for both players and Coaches, acts as a stepping stone.

Mallorca: Liga mainstays on the rise!

La Liga old boys Mallorca completed the first step of their recovery on Sunday as they won promotion back to the second tier.

Mallorca’s 0-0 draw with Mirandes preserved their 3-1 win from the first leg in their promotion playoff, and they will be joined in the Segunda Division by Rayo Majadahonda next term.

The islanders had played 16 straight seasons in La Liga, during which time they finished third twice, contested the 2001-02 Champions League, won the Copa del Rey in 2003 and had former Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o on their books.

Segunda: Rayo up, Barca B down!

A dramatic penultimate matchday in the Segunda Division saw Rayo Vallecano clinch promotion to La Liga and Barcelona B drop back into the third tier.

Alex Moreno’s 40th-minute goal earned Rayo a 1-0 win against Lugo on Sunday, which was enough for them to secure a top-two place.

Los Vallecanos were relegated to La Segunda in 2016 and could only finish 12th in their first season back in the division.
