‘Barca have right mentality’

Rafinha has warned Barcelona’s rivals that his side possess ‘the right mentality’ to challenge on all fronts this season.

Despite their apparent problems behind the scenes, La Blaugrana are in the midst of a three-way battle for La Liga, due to rematch with Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals next week and will face Manchester City in the Champions League last 16 next month.

The Catalans eased to the last eight thanks to a 9-0 aggregate victory over Elche, and the Coach was quick to praise his troops after Thursday's second-leg success, singling out first-team new boys Rafinha and Munir El Haddadi.

“We have many players in the squad and distributed the minutes [fairly] so we're in good shape to face whatever comes our way,” he said.

Messi & Rafinha miss Barca training

Barcelona could be without Lionel Messi and Rafinha for Thursday’s Copa del Rey encounter with Elche after the duo missed training this morning.

La Blaugrana staged an open-doors training session from Miniestadi, albeit without the Argentine forward, who has an upset stomach according to the club’s official website.

The reason for Rafinha's absence, meanwhile, is an ear infection, and Barca doctors are now set to monitor both players over the next few days.

‘Barca fortunate to have Suarez’

Rafinha believes Barcelona are ‘fortunate’ to have Luis Suarez after the Uruguayan’s match-winning performance against Almeria.

Barca yet to decide on Deulofeu

Barcelona have yet to decide on the future of winger Gerard Deulofeu, who is currently on loan at Everton.

AS reports that unlike the case of Rafinha, the midfielder sent to Celta Vigo and whose return next season is guaranteed, Deulofeu’s case is still up in the air.

There’s no question over Deulofeu’s ability, AS adds, but rather if he would benefit from a second year in the Premier League more than a recall to Camp Nou.
