Valverde: Barca count on Rafinha

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde has confirmed that midfielder Rafinha “is one more player that can help us” this season.

Rafinha had been heavily linked with Inter over the past week, but the Brazilian made his first appearance in almost a year on Wednesday, coming on as a substitute during Barca’s 1-0 defeat to Espanyol in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals.

“Rafinha is one more player that can help us,” the Coach said after the game.

Juve aim for winter Rafinha deal

Juventus are keen on concluding a deal for Barcelona midfielder Rafinha Alcantara in January, according to reports.

The Brazilian has been out since April with a knee injury and had been linked with a move away over the summer with Ernesto Valverde said to be willing to sanction his sale.

Diario AS cites a report in Sportmediaset which states the Bianconeri are key to wrap up a quick deal which would see the 24-year-old move to Serie A in winter.

Father: Rafinha commited to Barca

Rafinha’s father insists the midfielder is committed to Barcelona and “will be back soon.”

Rafinha has been out since April with a knee injury and had been linked with a move away over the summer, amidst talk that he did not fit into the plans of Barca boss Ernesto Valverde, but Mazinho made it clear his son was on the mend and not looking to leave Camp Nou.

“The important thing is that he’s feeling better,” the former Celta Vigo man told Radio Marca.

Barca exit plans 'collapse'

Barcelona suffered a ‘collapse’ in their plans to shift on a number squad players this week, according to reports in Spain.

Marca states the Blaugrana failed in their targets to shift on four first-team players – Andre Gomes, Arda Turan, Rafinha and Munir El Haddadi – after Ernesto Valverde sanctioned their sales.

The only outgoing success for the club was full-back Douglas joining Benfica on a season-long loan but are now saddled with players on sizable wages who reportedly know they are no longer wanted.

Milan in for Barca's Rafinha?

Milan have reportedly contacted Barcelona to open talks for the transfer of midfielder Rafinha Alcantara.

Calciomercato.com state the 24-year-old could be the “last shot” for the Milanese giants in the transfer market this summer as he represents “an opportunity they would gladly take.”

The Brazilian has a current deal at the Camp Nou until June 2020 but wants first-team football, especially in light of next summer’s World Cup in Russia.

Barto: Coutinho, Iniesta, Madrid…

Josep Maria Bartomeu admits Philippe Coutinho “is a great player”, Barcelona want Andres Iniesta “for life” and that “there’s great respect” with Real Madrid.

Mundo Deportivo reported on Saturday morning that Rafinha could be the key to Barca signing Coutinho from Liverpool, while Iniesta turned 34 in May and has only one year left on his contract.

“A few years ago, Barcelona felt football would be important in the US,” the President continued to tell reporters in the Americas via the newspaper.

Barcelona are prepared to use the unsettled Rafinha Alcantara as a makeweight in a proposed move for Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin, say reports.

According to Marca, the 24-year-old would be an attractive option for Arsene Wenger who values his potential and ability to challenge for a first-team spot in North London.

The Brazilian, who reportedly is keen to leave the Camp Nou in order to find more playing opportunities, is said to be keen on a move to the English Premier League, despite also being chased by Italian champions Juventus.

Juve line up €25m Rafinha bid

Juventus are lining up a €25m move for Barcelona midfielder Rafinha Alcantara in the summer transfer window, according to reports in Spain.

Despite participating in 33 matches this campaign, the Brazilian midfielder has not established himself in the first team at the Camp Nou and, like his brother Thiago, is rumoured to want to look for opportunities elsewhere.

Marca and El Mundo Deportivo have both picked up on a report in Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport that the Italian champions are prioritising a deal for the 24-year-old.

El Mundo Deportivo’s front page on Thursday spoke of the ‘dilemma’ facing the midfielder, who reportedly was interested in departing the Camp Nou to play more minutes ahead of the 2018 World Cup.

Rafinha out for four months

Barcelona have confirmed that Rafinha will be out for “around four months” after undergoing surgery on a knee injury.

Rafinha pulled up in just the 17th minute of Barca’s 4-1 win at Granada last weekend, and the Catalans stated on their official website that the midfielder was operated on his right meniscus.

The Brazilian is not expected back until August and ends this campaign with seven goals in 28 appearances.
