Lazio to land Eibar captain Gonzalo Escalante

Lazio are set to land Eibar captain Gonzalo Escalante on a free transfer this summer following the expiration of his contract.

The 26-year-old will move back to Italy after five seasons with Eibar, as he was brought to Spain from Catania in the second tier of Italian football.

Eibar and Rayo Vallecano players face jail terms

Eibar striker Sergi Enrich (pictured) and Rayo Vallecano defender Antonio Luna could face up to five years in prison for a recorded sex video.

The two players were filmed having intercourse with a woman, who is heard to be shouting ‘stop, don’t do that!’, during the footage, as outlined by El Mundo Deportivo.

Thibaut Courtois: I always believed in myself

Real Madrid goal keeper Thibaut Courtois has revealed he never questioned his ability since returning to La Liga.

The Belgian international controversially joined Los Blancos at the start of the 2018-19 season, despite winning a league title with arch rivals Atletico Madrid in 2014.

That move caused negativity for the former Chelsea man, however he has brushed off suggestions that he doubted his capability to be a success at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Zinedine Zidane: Real Mallorca defeat was a turning point

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has revealed that their defeat to Real Mallorca last month served as a turning point for his squad. 

Los Blancos slipped to a shock 1-0 loss away at the Balearic side back in October, and the Frenchman stated in his post-match press conference after their 4-0 win at Eibar that is was a key point in the season.

"We have worked hard and looked to improve," he told an interview with Movistar, cited in Marca.

"The defeat against Mallorca was tough to take, but from there on we have got better."

Real Madrid pass their Eibar test with dominant 4-0 La Liga win

Real Madrid navigated their way past a potentially tricky La Liga test away at Eibar, with a forceful 4-0 win at the Estadio Ipurua. 

Manager Zinedine Zidane spoke ahead of kick off about the importance of winning difficult away games this season, and his side responded with a ruthless first half display.

Karim Benzema got the ball rolling for the hosts after 17 minutes, as he reacted quickest inside the box to steer home past Eibar keeper Marko Dmitrovic.

La Liga Line Ups: Eibar v Real Madrid

Real Madrid go to Eibar tonight, in a tricky test of their La Liga title credentials at the Estadio Ipurua. 

Zinedine Zidane has been hit with an injury crisis in midweek, and he makes three changes from the side that beat Galatasaray 6-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday. 

Ferland Mendy replaces Marcelo at left back, with Luka Modric and Lucas Vazquez coming in for Toni Kroos and Rodrygo Goes.

Eibar boss Jose Luis Mendilibar also shuffles his pack slightly, with two changes from the 2-1 La Liga win away at Leganes last weekend.

Luka Jovic ruled out for Real Madrid trip to Eibar
Luka Jovic has joined a growing injury list for Real Madrid ahead of their trip to Eibar tonight.
 
The Serbian international, who netted his first Real Madrid goal in the 5-0 La Liga win over Leganes last month, picked up a minor thigh problem in training, which  has ruled him out this weekend.
