Gareth Bale set for tests after ankle knock in Real Madrid win

Gareth Bale will reportedly undergo tests after picking up an ankle injury in Real Madrid's win on Wednesday night.

Zinedine Zidane's side secured a 3-1 victory over Unionistas in their Copa del Rey clash, with Bale scoring the opening goal of the game.

However, the Welsh international had to be replaced in the 53rd minute, and Mundo Deportivo report that he picked up an ankle knock which wil require further tests on Thursday.

Real Madrid's Karim Benzema set for Copa del Rey return

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema will squad for the midweek Copa del Rey clash with Segunda Division Group B side Unionistas de Salamanca. 

The former French international has missed Real Madrid's last three games, including their Spanish Supercopa success in Saudi Arabia, through injury.

However according to reports in Marca, he has now taken part in full training and should be involved in the January 22 clash with the third tier side.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed that the club would be looking into the possibility of short term signings until the end of the season, after England international Marcus Rashford was ruled out until April with a back injury.

Gareth Bale to return for Real Madrid clash with Sevilla

Real Madrid are confident that Gareth Bale will be fit in time for their crunch La Liga clash with Sevilla on January 18.

The Welsh international has not travelled with Zinedine Zidane's squad for their Spanish Supercopa games in Saudi Arabia, due to a chest infection, however that is only likely to be a precaution from the club's medical staff.

Zidane had left the door open for Bale to join up with the squad following their 3-1 semi-final win over Valencia on January 7, stating that a decision would be made later in the week.

Gareth Bale will not join up with Real Madrid for Supercopa final

Real Madrid have confirmed that Gareth Bale will not be linking up with the squad in Saudi Arabia for Sunday's Spanish Supercopa final.

Bale missed the 3-1 semi-final win over Valencia in Jeddah on January 7th due to a chest infection, however the club remained open to him joining up with the rest of the squad if he recovered quickly.

Manager Zinedine Zidane had previously stated that the Welsh international could travel to the Middle East if he recovered from a chest infection, and that he was leaving the door open for the 30-year old.

Jonathan Barnett, the agent of Gareth Bale, has ruled out a January transfer for the player: “He is going nowhere.”

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has opted to recall Gareth Bale to the starting line up for the first game of 2020.

Los Blancos make the short trip to their city rivals Getafe, as they look to close the gap on Barcelona at the top of La Liga with a win at the Estadio Butarque.

Bale missed the final game of 2019, a 0-0 draw at home to Athletic Bilbao, with a minor injury, but he replaces Vinicius Junior in the visitors attack.
