Gelson Martins joins Monaco on loan from Atletico Madrid

Gelson Martins has signed on loan with Ligue 1 side Monaco until the end of the season from Atletico Madrid.

The Portuguese international, who moved from Sporting Lisbon in the summer, has struggled to make an impact in La Liga - starting just one league game in 2018-19.

His move frees up space in the squad for the imminent arrival of Chelsea's Alvaro Morata, who successfully underwent a medical with the club this morning, ahead of completing a loan-to-buy deal with Diego Simeone's side.
