Alves doesn’t want Valencia exit

Diego Alves has informed Valencia of his intention not to leave the club this summer, increasing speculation around Vicente Guaita.

Los Che had indicated during last season that this summer would see one of their two first-team goalkeepers offloaded, with Alves seen as the likely candidate to leave.

The player met with President Amadeo Salvo and sporting director Braulio Vazquez yesterday, accompanied by his agent, with it believed to study offers available from other clubs.

Roma tracking Diego Alves - report

Reports in the Italian Press have claimed that Roma are looking to make a move for Valencia goalkeeper Diego Alves.

The capital club were rumoured to be interested in Brazil goalkeeper Julio Cesar, but with the English media suggesting that he could be on the verge of a move to Arsenal, Il Messaggero has claimed that the Giallorossi will turn their attention towards a new target.

Diego Alves would be available from Los Che for approximately €6m, an affordable figure for Rudi Garcia’s men.

Roma list Valdes, Diego Alves

Roma are reportedly looking at Barcelona’s Victor Valdes and Valencia’s Diego Alves as options for in goal next season.

Valdes is confirmed as on his way out of Barca by the end of his contract, although it is looking increasingly unlikely that he will be sold this summer.

Even so, he is listed by the Corriere dello Sport as on Roma’s three-man shortlist for a new goalkeeper, alongside Valencia’s Alves.

Valencia to raise €18m

Valencia reportedly intend to raise a further €18m in player sales this summer to ease financial pressure at the club.

The Mestalla outfit, who have a combined debt of €355m and increasing pressure on a particular €86m that the club’s majority shareholders have, reportedly need a total of €24m to come in this summer in order to balance the books.

‘Our ‘keepers don’t like it either’

Imanol Agirretxe says he has even annoyed Real Sociedad’s goalkeepers for previously trying to lob them as he did Valencia’s Diego Alves on Sunday.

Stoppage time in Week 33’s clash between La Real and Los Che saw Agirretxe latch on to a loose ball to run through clear on goal, where he chipped Alves for the final goal in his team’s 4-2 win.

Considering the strike today, the forward admitted that even his own team’s goalkeepers don’t like him trying it in training against them.

Valencia in Alves-Gameiro swap?

Valencia are reportedly trying to convince Diego Alves to accept a move to Paris Saint-Germain, as part of a deal to bring Kevin Gameiro the other way.

Sporting director Braulio Vazquez is seen as a keen and long term admirer of 25-year-old Gameiro and Superdeporte report that the striker is again being targeted for this summer.

Pellegrino brushes off goalkeeper talk

Valencia boss Mauricio Pellegrino has expressed his frustration at the continual speculation over which goalkeeper he favours.

The Argentine, who has flitted between Diego Alves and Vicente Guaita throughout the campaign, was asked who would start between the sticks against Real Betis tomorrow in a Press conference.

“I'll play a goalkeeper,” he quipped. “I do not know why this becomes the big issue before every game. Nobody asks me about Antonio Barragan or Tino Costa or Dani Parejo.”

Canizares queries Los Che ‘keeper role

Santiago Canizares has questioned the role of first-choice goalkeeper at Valencia in declarations to Canal Plus.

The former Los Che stopper believes the present situation, with both Vicente Guaita and Diego Alves competing for the No 1 spot, is untenable in the medium term.

“I’ve never liked this situation. It was something I said when I was at the club and I’m saying the same thing now regarding Guaita and Alves. If you ask both players they will tell you they are certainly not comfortable with it,” said Canizares.

Kaka back in Brazil squad

Ricky Kaka hasn’t appeared in a competitive game this season for Real Madrid, but has today been called up to Brazil for the first time in a year.

The 30-year-old was heavily linked with a move away from the Spanish capital this summer after a reported falling out with Jose Mourinho, but in not managing to agree a transfer out has since struggled to feature for the Portuguese this term.

Alves: Home points essential

Valencia 'keeper Diego Alves has stressed the need for Los Che to collect their first home win against Celta Vigo this Saturday.

Mauricio Pellegrino's side are in fact without a win of any kind of thus far, having drawn 1-1 and 3-3 with Real Madrid and Deportivo La Coruna respectively before a 1-0 loss at Barcelona.

However Alves believes winning points at Mestalla is especially important, particularly after throwing away a two goal lead against Depor.
