Quique Sanchez Flores sacked by Watford

Quique Sanchez Flores has been sacked from his role as Watford boss, the club has confirmed.

Flores returned to the club where he managed for the 2015/16 Premier League season, in September, following the sacking of Javi Gracia by the Hornets.

However, it has not gone to plan for Flores on his return to England, with Watford still bottom of the table, with just one win from 10 Premier League games under his leadership.

Javi Gracia pens four-year Watford extension

Watford have awarded boss Javi Gracia a new four-and-a-half-year deal with the option of a further years added on, it has been confirmed.

Gracia replaced Marco Silva at Vicarage Road in January and has won 11 of his 30 matches at the helm to date, with the Hornets ninth in the Premier League standings.

“I am very happy to extend my contract,” Gracia told club media.

“I am very proud in this moment to be part of this club and to belong here for more seasons.”

Guedes sets sights on Valencia

Paris Saint-Germain winger Goncalo Guedes has set his heart on signing for Valencia this season, as revealed by Marca.

The Portugal international spent last year on loan at Mestalla, making 33 league appearances and scoring five goals, and after previously failing to make an impact with the Ligue 1 giants Los Che are his number one choice, despite interest from several English teams.

Barca's Alcacer nearing Watford move

Watford are in ‘advanced talks’ to sign Barcelona striker Paco Alcacer this week, it has been reported in the ESPN FC.

The 24-year-old joined the Catalan giants on a five-year contract from Valencia in 2016 in a €30m deal but has struggled for game time since, scoring 15 times in 50 appearances.

Diario Sport has been among the publications in Spain linking the former Los Che man to Vicarage Road, where he would link up with former teammate Gerard Deulofeu – who made the switch in January.

OFFICIAL: Barca's Deulofeu joins Watford

Watford have completed the permanent signing of winger Gerard Deulofeu from Barcelona on a five-year contract, it has been confirmed.

The clubs have confirmed an agreement of €13m (£11.5m) for the 24-year-old, formerly of Everton and Sevilla, with a further €3m in performance-related add-ons.

Deulofeu spent the second half of last season on loan at Watford, making seven Premier League appearances and scoring one goal – against Chelsea.

Deulofeu set for Watford stay

Barcelona are expected to formalise Gerard Deulofeu’s sale to Watford this week for a reported €13m.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the deal suits all parties concerned and will be confirmed on Monday or Tuesday. 

The newspaper explains Watford ‘moved very quickly’ to turn Deulofeu’s loan into a permanent transfer, while staying with the Premier League side was the winger’s ‘priority’.

Premier League duo Arsenal and Watford are both keen on a move for Sevilla goalkeeper Sergio Rico this summer, say reports in Spain.

Deulofeu: Barca don't want me

Gerard Deulofeu does not believe he will return to Barcelona and has suggested extending his stay at Watford following a January move.

The 24-year-old return to the Camp Nou last summer from Everton and made 10 top-flight appearances, but has had his spell at the Hornets disrupted by injuries.

“It’s clear that I will not be returning to Barca,” Deulofeu explained on Cadena Ser.

“I do not think the Coach would want me back at Barca and I have been told by Watford that I am wanted, so it could be that I stay at the club.

Success joins Malaga on loan

Malaga have completed the signing of Watford forward Isaac Success on a loan deal for the remainder of the campaign.

The Nigerian was signed by the Hornets from Malaga’s eastern Andalucian rivals Granada in 2016, when he became a club record signing at €14m (£12.5m).

However, the 22-year-old has found it tough to settle in at Vicarage Road and has scored only goal in 20 appearances for the club, with just one outing this campaign.

Watford sign Deulofeu from Barca

Watford have completed the loan signing of out-of-favour Barcelona forward Gerard Deulofeu for the remainder of the season.

The 23-year-old has started only five league games so far this season and had been strongly linked to Italian giants Inter, Milan and Napoli.

The fleet-footed forward has experience of playing in England, having made 62 Premier League appearances for Everton across two spells, scoring five times.
