Alba apologises for gesture

Barcelona defender Jordi Alba has apologised after being caught gesturing towards a Real Sociedad fan with his middle finger on Sunday.

The Blaugrana came from two goals down to record their first league victory at Anoeta in nine attempts but video replays caught the incident between the full-back and a fan of the home club.

“I was caught, no?” Alba queried to reporters when questioned if he had made the gesture, as cited by ESPN.

Alba slams ‘colossal mistake’

Jordi Alba branded Barcelona’s ghost goal against Valencia “a colossal mistake” as “I saw the ball go in from the middle of the park!”

Messi’s shot in the first half was disallowed, despite it squirming through Neto’s gloves and crossing the line, contributing to Barca only drawing 1-1 with Valencia, and Alba felt the ‘outrageous’ decision marred an enjoyable night of football.

“It was a colossal mistake by the referee,” he said after the game.

Jordi Alba says he is feeling ‘phenomenal’ after helping Spain thrash Costa Rica 5-0 but warns Barcelona that “Real Madrid will always be Real Madrid.”

“Everyone did very well,” he said after Saturday’s friendly at La Rosaleda.

“We have a lot of talent and hopefully we can win the World Cup. I feel phenomenal and I hope it lasts.

Alba: I don’t like Isco’s level!

Jordi Alba admits Spain teammate Isco “is one of the best in world, even if I don’t like seeing him at that level” for Real Madrid.

Isco has grown into one of the world’s best midfielders over the past year after helping Madrid rule Spain and Europe, and Alba confessed the 25-year-old’s impressive form left him in two minds.

“At no time did I say that I played better without Neymar. It’s quite the opposite,” the Barcelona defender said at a Press conference for Spain’s game against Costa Rica on Saturday.

Alba: Neymar departure good for me

Jordi Alba has explained that Neymar’s departure from Barcelona this summer has benefitted his own game.

The former Valencia full-back stated the Brazilian’s exit means he now has clear channels in Barca’s system to advance forward and he has already recorded five assist this season.

“There is now more space for me to run into and it is honestly better for me that he is not here,” Alba told Mundo Deportivo.

Alba: Barca got Madrid wrong

Jordi Alba admits Barcelona were caught out by Real Madrid playing with three forwards instead of two on Wednesday.

Barca were resoundingly beaten 5-1 on aggregate by Madrid over both legs of the Supercopa, and Alba conceded his side got their assessment of Los Blancos wrong for the return match.

“We thought they would play with two forwards, but they went with three and it made bringing the ball out difficult for us,” he told Esport 3 after the Catalans’ 2-0 defeat.
