Berizzo to draw on Bielsa plan

Eduardo Berizzo hopes his Celta Vigo side can continue Manchester United’s poor form in Spain to give the Galicians a platform for the Europa League final.

The Red Devils have only won twice in 22 previous visits to Spain and the Argentine, a disciple of Marcelo Bielsa, is hopeful of drawing on their defeat to Athletic Bilbao in the same competition five years ago.

"We hope first of all that the statistics stay as they are, just two wins away from England," Celta Coach Berizzo said.

Berizzo responds to Marseille links

Celta Vigo boss Eduardo Berizzo has poured scorn on reports that he could replace Marcelo Bielsa at Marseille this summer.

The former Argentina defender spent the first half of the 1999-00 campaign with the Ligue 1 giants and was Bielsa’s assistant when his countryman managed Chile between 2007 and 2010.

Berizzo was only appointed Celta Coach last year following the departure of Luis Enrique to Barcelona, however, and he has no intention of cutting his two-year contract short.
