Real Madrid to loan goalkeeper Andriy Lunin to Real Oviedo

Real Madrid are set to loan goalkeeper Andriy Lunin to Real Oviedo following his return to the club, report Diario AS.

Lunin had not played in La Liga on loan at Real Valladolid as he has not been able to place the club’s number one goalkeeper Jordi Masip.

Furthermore, the Ukrainian - who joined Madrid from Zorya in a €7.5m deal in the summer of 2018 - only started four La Liga games last season at Leganes, where he could not displace Ivan Cuellar.

Malaga suspend Coach Victor Sanchez over explicit video

Spanish second division club Malaga have suspended Coach Victor Sanchez after a video was leaked showing sexually explicit content.

The former Real Madrid midfielder and Spain international, was shown indecently exposing himself on camera whilst wearing a Malaga training top.

Almeria hopeful of signing Brazil international Gustavo Scarpa

Spanish second tier side Almeria are hopeful of signing Palmeiras midfielder Gustavo Scarpa, who has been capped by Brazil.

It is claimed by Marca that the Andalusian club are hopeful of concluding an €8m deal for the player, who could not help prevent the Brazilian club’s first ever relegation from the top division last month.

Rayo Vallecano against Albacete to be played behind closer doors

The second half of the abandoned match between Rayo Vallecano and Albacete will be played behind closed doors, La Liga have confirmed.

The match was called off at half-time earlier this month due to insults directed from the home fans at Vallecas towards Ukrainian striker Roman Zozulya.

It was the first ever match to be abandoned in Spanish football due to chants and gestures from fans, which were alleging that the player held extreme political views.

Diego Maradona linked to Elche job

Spanish second division side Elche have been linked to appointing Argentine football legend Diego Maradona as their new boss.

A report in Marca cites the influential Argentine Christian Bragarnik as being close to a takeover of the Spanish club and he could bring Maradona - currently at the helm of Argentine side Club de Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata - with him.

Almeria have sacked boss Pedro Emanuel despite the team sitting second in the Segunda and with just two defeats this season.

The Andalusian club are five games unbeaten and have lost just two of their 14 league games to date this season - but trail league leaders Cadiz by 10 points.

Malaga denied match postponement over lack of players

The Spanish FA have rejected a request from Malaga to postpone their Segunda clash with Cadiz this weekend, the club have confirmed.

The Costa del Sol club had requested the game be postponed due to international call-ups, suspensions and injuries meaning they cannot meet their quota of players for the clash.

Spanish second division renamed LaLiga SmartBank

The Spanish League has rebranded the second tier of the football system LaLiga SmartBank after it’s previous title of LaLiga 1|2|3.

Cadena Cope outline how the change will come when the competition commences this season on 17 August, in conjunction with Banco Santander.

SmartBank is the branded proposal of products and services of Spanish bank Santander for young people between 18 and 31 years of age.

Cordoba appoint former Valencia star Curro Torres

Cordoba have appointed former Valencia midfielder Curro Torres as their new Coach to replace the outgoing Jose Ramon Sandoval.

Torres spent a decade in Los Che’s first-team squad between 1999 and 2009 whilst also winning five caps for the Spanish national team.

The 41-year-old German-born Coach has previously been at the helm of Valencia’s B team along with Lorca and Croatian side NK Istra 1961.

Ruben Baraja 'thankful' to Sporting Gijon after sacking

Ruben Baraja is ‘very grateful’ to Sporting Gijón for his year in charge of the club despite being dismissed this weekend.

Saturday’s 2-1 loss at Real Oviedo, in the Asturian derby, saw the former Valencia midfielder sacked from the role at which he was appointed last December.

“The results, we accept as professionals, determine the reality, but do not reflect the work done,” Baraja wrote in an open letter to fans on the club’s website.
