Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde hailed the ‘unique’ Lionel Messi for once again making the difference against Inter.

Lautaro Martinez gave Inter the lead in the third minute of Wednesday night’s encounter but Luis Suarez struck twice in the second half to hand Barcelona a potentially vital victory.

Real Madrid charged by UEFA

Real Madrid are one of six clubs who UEFA are opening disciplinary proceedings against following the midweek Champions League action.

As outlined by Reuters, Madrid were charged over a late kick-off in Tuesday evening’s 2-2 draw at home to Club Brugge.

The Belgian side have also been cited after midfielder Ruud Vormer, who was sent off after picking up a second booking, used abusive language towards a match official.

Barcelona goal keeper Marc Ter Stegen has spoken of delight at having Lionel Messi back in the staring eleven.

Messi has endured an injury disrupted start to the 2019-20 season, with just one La Liga start this season. 

However he provided the assist for Luis Suarez's winning goal in their 2-1 victory over Inter Milan, and the German international was full of praise for the returning club captain.

Luis Suarez hails half time intervention in Inter Milan victory

Barcelona forward Luis Suarez has praised Ernesto Valverde's half time team talk as La Blaugrana secured their first Champions League win of the season.

Suarez netted twice in the second half, as Valverde's side overturned a 1-0 deficit at home to inter Milan at the Camp Nou.

With the defending La Liga champions under pressure at the break, the Uruguayan praised his manager for a calmness in the dressing room at half time.

Lionel Messi returns to the Barcelona starting line up for their Champions League clash with Inter Milan.

The La Blaugrana skipper is one of two changes from the side that won 2-0 away at Getafe in La Liga action, as Ernesto Valverde's side look to pick up their first Champions League win of the season at ther Camp Nou.
