Real Madrid to stay at Ronaldo's hotel ahead of Real Valladolid tie

Real Madrid will stay at the hotel owned by former Brazilian international Ronaldo ahead of their game against Real Valladolid on Sunday.

The 42 year-old, who purchased a controlling stake in newly promoted Valladolid in 2018, has invited Los Blancos as his guests ahead of their evening kick off at the Estadio Jose Zorrillo. 

Ronaldo, who made over 100 appearances for Real Madrid between 2002 and 2007, is a permanent resident at the Hotel AC Palacio Santa Ana, but he has offered entire hotel to the squad - as per their normal pre match preparations.

Ronaldo well after pneumonia scare

Former Real Madrid and Barcelona striker Ronaldo has reassured fans that he is well after a pneumonia scare over the weekend.

Ronaldo was rushed to hospital on Friday while on holiday in Ibiza, before moving to intensive care unit of a private clinic.

However, he tweeted: “Friends, I had a very nasty bout of flu in Ibiza and had to be hospitalised on Friday, but everything is in order now.

“Tomorrow I’ll be discharged and return home. Thank you all for your love and messages!”

Neymar’s €3m Ballon d’Or bonus

French newspaper Le Parisien has revealed what Neymar will earn if the Paris Saint-Germain star ends up winning the Ballon d’Or.

PSG paid Barcelona a world record €222m for the Brazilian at the start of this season and his contract it alleged to have a large clause in it if he is successful.

The player has a contract with the Ligue 1 giants until 2022 and every time he wins the award before then he will receive an extra €3m.

Ronaldo: Madrid form temporary

Former Real Madrid striker and Brazil international Ronaldo believes Zinedine Zidane’s side will bounce back from their poor run of form.

The 41-year-old netted 104 times in 177 appearances across four-and-a-half seasons at the Bernabeu, and joked he would be willing to return to fitness to come out of retirement for the club.

“Last season they had a similar run and ultimately won La Liga and the Champions League,” Ronaldo told Marca.

Ronaldo: Left against my will

Ronaldo has admitted that he left Real Madrid “against my will” in 2007 after accusing Fabio Capello of using his weight as an excuse not to play him.

Ronaldo scored 104 goals in 177 appearances for Madrid between 2002 and 2007, but the striker played just 13 times in his final half-season under Capello, amidst claims he was overweight.

“I left against my will,” he told Fox Sports Brasil.

“I began to have many problems with Capello. I could be 100g over my target weight and I’d be out of the team.

‘Bale will finish career at Madrid’

Gareth Bale’s agent says the Welshman intends to finish his career with Real Madrid after signing a six-year contract extension on Monday.

Jonathan Barnett accompanied Bale to the announcement of his new deal and told Marca his client’s only idea is to continue playing at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“We have never heard of offers from any other club because Gareth’s only idea was to play for Real Madrid,” insisted Barnett.

'I wish I'd scored it for RM, not Barca...'

Former Brazil superstar Ronaldo has expressed his regret that his famous solo goal against SD Compostela was for Barcelona rather than Real Madrid.

The then 20-year-old picked up the ball in his own half before dribbling past a host of Compostela challenges before scoring what he would later describe as his ‘most beautiful goal’.

"It was a lovely goal, but the truth is I would have preferred to score it with Real Madrid," he told Movistar +.

"The only pity is that I was not at Madrid when I scored it."

Brazilian Ronaldo wants Coutinho at RM

Former Brazilian superstar Ronaldo has declared that he would like to see Liverpool attacker Philippe Coutinho join Real Madrid.

The 24-year-old playmaker has been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain in recent months but is under contract at Anfield until 2020, although former Madrid striker Ronaldo would love to see his old club make a move for his compatriot.

"I would like to see Coutinho at Real Madrid, the Liverpool player," Ronaldo told Onda Cero when asked who he wants to see Madrid sign.

Ceferin: Ronaldo/Messi battle 'good'

Newly elected UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin believes the playing rivalry between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi is good for football.

Ceferin, who won 42 of the 55 votes to be elected president ahead of Michael Van Praag was responding to a question regarding which player he preferred by Marca.

"They're both good for football, one has certain things better than the other," the 48-year-old explained.

"Ronaldo is pure power, strength, determination whereas Messi is more of an artist.

Capello: Ronaldo never lost weight…

Fabio Capello has reflected on his two spells at Real Madrid, including an overweight Ronaldo and difficult requests from Presidents.

It was put to Capello in an interview with AS that there are a number of players current Madrid Coach Zinedine Zidane has to name in his starting XI, but he denied having a similar experience barring the time Fernando Sanz made the case for one player in particular.
