Alvaro Morata sent-off, rants on social media

Alvaro Morata and Salva Sevilla have continued their spat following on from the Atletico Madrid’s striker red card on Wednesday.

The striker was sent-off after both he and Real Mallorca’s Xisco Campos were booked for squaring up late in the evening La Liga clash, with Morata then quickly shown a second yellow card after dissent.

Morata then angrily told Spanish media after the match: “Let Xisco Campos say it (what was said) if he has the guts, I did nothing.”

Barcelona fined €300 for Antoine Griezmann contract breach

Barcelona have been fined a paltry €300 for negotiating a contract with Antoine Griezmann in March, it has been confirmed.

Blagurana club officials paid his €120m release clause at La Liga headquarters in Madrid in July, although Atleti allege that the signing had been done before the clause dropped to €120m from €200m, on 1 July.

Real Madrid pair Vinicius Junior and Lucas Vazquez are in confident mood ahead of the Madrid derby this weekend.

Atletico Madrid have had to ‘reinvent themselves’ this summer following wholesale changes to their squad, their CEO has said.

Miguel Angel Gil Marin was speaking following a transfer window which saw a series of star players - including Antoine Griezmann, Diego Godin, Lucas Hernandez and Rodri - exit the club.

Diego Simeone: Atletico Madrid goals will come

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone is not concerned following successive La Liga games in which his side failed to score.

After falling to a 2-0 defeat at Real Sociedad last week, Los Rojiblancos were held to a 0-0 draw by Celta Vigo on Saturday.

It means Los Rojiblancos have netted just five times in their opening five league games - of which three came in the one game against Eibar - with an early flying start being derailed in recent weeks.

Diego Simeone backs Diego Costa to rediscover his form

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has backed struggling forward Diego Costa to get back to best.

Costa missed the start of the 2019-20 La Liga season due to a suspension from the previous campaign, and he has also struggled with minor injuries in recent weeks.

Simeone has persevered with the Spanish international, despite not scoring in any of his four appearances so far this campaign, and he is confident the experienced striker will get back on track.

Kieran Trippier: I never experienced anything like the Atletico atmosphere

New Atletico Madrid full back Kieran Trippier has revealed he has ‘never experienced’ anything like the atmosphere at the Wanda Metropolitano.

The stadium - which only opened in 2017 - staged the final of the Champions League last season and was electric on Wednesday night as Atleti fought from two goals down to draw with Italian champions Juventus.

Goals from Juan Cuadrado and Blaise Matuidi had appeared to put the Old Lady in control of the game in the second half, but Atleti fought back in the last 20 minutes.

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Siemone has hailed Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of their Champions League clash.

Ronaldo netted a hat trick against Los Rojiblancos in the last 16 stage last season, to eliminate them from the competition and continue his fantastic record against Simeone's side.

Ronaldo scored 16 goals against Atletico Madrid in his nine year spell at arch rivals Real Madrid, including goals in the 2014 Champions League final and a hat trick in the 26-17 semi finals.
