Anzhi bid for Falcao

Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala are reportedly interested in Atletico Madrid forward Radamel Falcao.

The 26-year-old goalscorer has courted interest from a number of top European clubs, but A Bola are claiming it is the Russian Premier League outfit – who last year made Samuel Eto'o the best-paid footballer in the world – that have ramped up the pressure on Atletico.

Guu Hiddink's side have allegedely offered €68m for the striker's services.

Man City close on Godin

Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin is believed to be on the verge of signing for Manchester City.

Mundo Deportivo report that a deal to take the centre-back to Etihads is almost done.

The Premier League champions were rebuffed in their attempts to sign Liverpool's Daniel Agger earlier in the summer, and have instead turned their attentions to the 26-year-old Uruguayan.

Godin joined Los Colchoneros from Villarreal in 2010 for €8m, and his current deal with the club runs until 2015.

Arda: Gala return one day, not now

Turkish midfielder Arda Turan has reiterated his commitment to Atletico Madrid and hit out at media coverage of him in his homeland.

Turan enjoys a strong relationship with Fatih Terim - Coach of his former club Galatasaray - but the 25-year-old has moved to quash suggestions that his return to Istanbul is imminent.

“I am very happy in Madrid and I love living in this city,” he told Haberturk TV.

“It has never entered my mind to leave Atletico.

Adelardo: Give Torres time

Atletico Madrid legend Adelardo Rodriguez has asked for promising youngster Oliver Torres to be afforded some patience.

Torres came off the bench to make his debut for Diego Simeone’s side in Sunday's 1-1 draw at Levante, impressing in midfield to demonstrate why he has been the target of reported attention from English powerhouses Manchester United and Chelsea.

However, Atleti’s three-time La Liga winner Adelardo is asking that the player be given some time to develop.

Simeone won't give up on Diego

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone remains intent on signing Diego, who could be freed up by the arrival of Benat Etxebarria at Wolfsburg.

The Rojiblancos have already signed Cata Diaz and Cristian Rodriguez this summer but, according to AS, Coach Simeone is urging the club to pursue Diego, the Brazilian playmaker who made an impressive impact on loan at the Vicente Calderon last season.

The deal is a complicated one however, dependant on various other transfers going through.

Torres: Comparisons don't help

Teenager Oliver Torres is thankful for making his Atletico Madrid last night but refutes any comparisons to other players.

The highly rated 17-year-old came on late in the second half against Levante, replacing Adrian Lopez in the 1-1 draw at the Estadio Ciutat de Valencia.

“It is a dream come true,” said the young midfielder. “I’m very proud of all the hard work I have put in to get this debut.

Atletico draw fair says JIM

Levante boss Juan Ignacio Martinez said his side’s 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid was a fair result.

The visitors had most of the possession at the Ciutat de Valencia yet could not convert that into opportunities and Martinez felt Levante were worth at least a draw.

“It was a very good game for us and a fair result considering how both teams played,” he told a Press conference.

“It’s true they had a lot of the ball but neither did they have any chances to score.”

Celtic star interesting Atletico

Atletico Madrid are chasing Celtic midfielder Ki-Sung Yeung, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Los Rojiblancos’ boss Diego Simeone was alerted to the 23-year-old South Korean international after he turned in some impressive displays at the London Olympics, where his country reached the semi-finals.

Simeone is on the lookout for a creative midfielder to fill the void left by Diego’s return to Wolfsburg following his season-long loan at the Vicente Calderon, and sees Ki as fitting the bill.

Simeone: Levante made it difficult

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone felt Levante made it difficult for his team in the 1-1 draw at the Ciutat de Valencia.

Arda Turan rescued a point for Los Rojiblancos midway through the first half after Nabil El Zhar had put the home side ahead early on, yet despite dominating possession Simeone’s men found chances hard to come by.

“It was a game where we had a lot of the ball against a team that were good defensively and prepared to play on the counter-attack.
