Alvaro Morata: Chelsea teammates drove me crazy

Alvaro Morata has explained how his Chelsea teammate did not trust his ability and admitted it drove him ‘crazy’.

The 27-year-old is halfway through an 18-month loan spell in the Spanish capital after joining from the Blues in January, where he endured a frustrating spell.

The Spain international striker moved to West London in the summer of 2017 from Real Madrid in a reported €65m deal but failed to hit the ground running at Stamford Bridge.

Spain's top scorer David Villa to retire this year

David Villa - Spain’s all-time record international goalscorer - has confirmed his retirement from football this year.

The former Barcelona striker - who scored 12 goals in 24 appearances for Japanese club Vissel Kobe this season - will end a 19-year career, in which he won the 2010 World Cup and 2008 European Championship with his country.

“I wanted to retire from football, not be forced to retire,” Villa said.

Real Betis to replace Valencia in Spanish Supercopa?

Real Betis may replace Valencia in the newly created Spanish Supercopa, according to a report in Diario Sport.

It is claimed by the report that Los Che supremos Peter Lim and Anil Murthy are angry at the economic distribution of the tournament and are considering withdrawing their club.

It was announced on Monday that the four-team tournament would be played in Saudi Arabia this January with Valencia pitted against Real Madrid.

Sime Vrsaljko returns to Atletico Madrid training

Atletico Madrid defender Sime Vrsaljko has returned to light training with the club after nine months out with a knee injury.

The full-back was enjoying a season-long loan deal at Inter last season but suffered the injury early this year and returned to Los Rojiblancos to begin the recovery process.

The Croatian international joined the Nerazzuri from Atleti on a €6.5m loan for the season with a €17.5m option to but he was limited to just 13 appearances last season due to injury.

Real Madrid confirm opposition to La Liga plans for US match

Real Madrid have officially lodged a complaint against plans to hold a match from La Liga in the United States next month.

Villarreal, Atletico Madrid and La Liga have formally requested their December league game be played in Miami, while a similar request was made last year for Girona’s tie at home to Barcelona.

The meeting between the two is set to take place on matchday 16 of the current campaign with Atleti scheduled to visit the Yellow Submarine on 8 December.

Barcelona face Atletico Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup semi finals

Barcelona will face Atletico Madrid in the semi finals of the 2019-20 Spanish Super Cup, with Real Madrid taking on Valencia.

The draw for the last four was performed at the RFEF headquarters in Madrid earlier today, ahead of the revamped competition, which will take place in Saudi Arabia in January 2020.

Each side had a representative at the draw, with Sergio Ramos, Sergio Busquets, Saul Niguez and Jose Gaya all in attendance in the Spanish capital.

Atletico Madrid will be without midfield pair Saul Niguez and Thomas Partey for their La Liga trip to Granada after the international break.

Diego Simeone' side head to Andalucia, on the back of an eight game unbeaten run in league action, compared to Diego Martinez's side, who have lost their last three games.

Niguez and Partey both picked up their fifth league booking of the season in last weekend's 3-1 win at home to Espanyol, however they will be back for the crunch tie at home to league leaders Barcelona on December 1.
