Julen Lopetegui hails 'extraordinary' Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane

Sevilla boss Julen Lopetegui has praised the work of his counterpart Zinedine Zidane ahead of their meeting this weekend.

Los Blancos welcome Lopetegui and his side to the Santiago Bernabeu this weekend, in the former Spain boss’ first trip back to Madrid following his exit in October 2019.

Lopetegui lasted less than four months in charge in Madrid, after controversially leaving his role in charge of the Spanish national team.

However, despite the reported negativity surrounding his exit, Lopetegui has no issues with Zidane, or his former club.

Robert Moreno: My time with Luis Enrique was wonderful

Robert Moreno sought to close the fallout with his former colleague Luis Enrique upon his presentation as boss of Monaco.

Luis Enrique stepped down from the role of Spain boss earlier this year to look after his terminally ill daughter, who tragically then passed away - with Moreno replacing him in the hotseat.

Moreno guided Spain to the European Championships next summer with an unbeaten record - seven wins from nine games - but was relieved of his duties by the Spanish FA last month as Luis Enrique returned.

Robert Moreno confirmed as AS Monaco boss

Former Spain boss Robert Moreno has been confirmed as the new manager of AS Monaco.

The Ligue 1 confirmed the sacking of Leonardo Jardim earlier this weekend, following an underwhelming second spell in charge of the side, with Moreno now confirmed as his replacement at the Stade Louis II.

Monaco vice president Oleg Petrov confirmed the appointment earlier today, stating that the club were delighted to be able to appoint a manager of Moreno's profile.

Spain confirm Netherlands trip for first Luis Enrique match

Spain will face the Netherlands in a friendly this March in Amsterdam ahead of the European Championships next summer.

The news was confirmed by the Spanish FA on Monday with the fixture the first confirmed for La Roja ahead of the finals.

The fixture will take place at the Johan Cruyff Arena - home of Dutch giants Ajax - on 29 March and is scheduled to be the first match in which Luis Enrique is back in the dugout for the Spanish national team.

Luis Enrique wants an end to Robert Moreno rift

Luis Enrique has called for an end to the reported negativity between him and former Spain boss Robert Moreno.

Enrique returns to his role of La Roja head coach following their successful qualification for Euro 2020, with Moreno managing the second half of the campaign after Enrique withdrew due to family reasons.

Moreno was removed from his role hours after Spain's final qualifier, and has criticised Enrique and the RFEF for their conduct during the situation.

Spain drawn with Poland and Sweden at Euro 2020

Spain will face Poland and Sweden in Group E at next summer's European Championships, following the finals draw in Bucharest today.

La Roja, who won the competition in 2008 and 2012, were ranked as top seeds for the draw, and will be guaranteed a set number of home games (in Bilbao), as one of the co-host nations.

After sealing qualification earlier this month, the Spanish national team has been mired in controversy, following the return of head coach Luis Enrique.
