Januzaj interests Leicester

Leicester City are thought to be interested in signing Adnan Januzaj after the loss of Riyad Mahrez to Manchester City this summer.

The 23-year-old was sold by Manchester United to Real Sociedad for €10m in July 2017 and appears to have been handed a new lease of life with the Basque club, following a disappointing spell at Old Trafford.

Manchester United want former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane to replace Jose Mourinho if the Portuguese departs Old Trafford.

Mourinho has become the bookies’ favourite to be the first Premier League manager to leave his job next season and United are already considering Zidane as a possible alternative, according to The Sun.

Mourinho backs Lopetegui

Jose Mourinho says he can empathise with the pressure new Real Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui is under at Real Madrid.

Lopetegui quit the Spain national team job on the eve of the World Cup to take the reins at the Santiago Bernabeu, and Manchester United Coach Mourinho revealed he too gave up his life in Italy with Inter to move to the Spanish capital in May 2010.

Moreover, Mourinho maintains he is confident that the 51-year-old former Porto man will be a success in La Liga this season.

Mourinho rules out Ronaldo return

Jose Mourinho says he has all but ruled out the possibility of Cristiano Ronaldo ever returning to Old Trafford.

Ronaldo left the Red Devils for Real Madrid in 2009 and has been the subject of speculation ever since that he would one day go back to England.

However, United boss Mourinho believes that at 33 years-of-age the Portuguese star would only go to the United States or a similar league as he winds down his career.

“I don’t think Real Madrid can sell him, it is prohibited, “Mourinho told Portuguese newspaper Record.

Varane: Not easy saying no to Mourinho

Raphael Varane has revealed that despite rejecting a move to Manchester United, it was tough to say no Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho brought Varane to the Bernabeu in 2011 from French club Lens, but ultimately the French centre-half opted to stay with Real Madrid and give a vote of confidence in Zinedine Zidane.

"Manchester (United) is a very big club and it is flattering," the 23-year-old told Canal+.

"But as Madrid and I continue to be in the process of my project, I do not even ask the question.

Mourinho: Dudek said what?!

Jose Mourinho has reacted with incredulity after being informed of claims made by Jerzy Dudek in his book about his Real Madrid career.

Dudek alleged that Mourinho angrily accused Esteban Granero of being a mole in the dressing room and leaking information to the Press.

“Don’t make me laugh. Dudek really said that? Granero is a great professional and a friend for life,” Mourinho said when the comments were put to him, Marca reports.

Mourinho has a dig at La Liga

Jose Mourinho says Barcelona and Real Madrid would not dominate English football like they do in Spain.

The Portuguese, who left the Santiago Bernabeu in 2013 to take over at Chelsea after winning the title, claims he did not enjoy his time there and that La Liga’s big two only play around four or five meaningful games in a season.

“I was in Spain but I didn’t enjoy it,” he told Alan Brazil in an exclusive interview for the Sports Breakfast programme.

Chelsea to target Godin?

Chelsea have reportedly entered the race to sign Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin.

According to the Mirror, the Uruguayan has recently attracted interest from Manchester United but now Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is set to turn to him in his search for a new centre-back.

The Portuguese’s first choice is Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane but it is unlikely the Frenchman will be allowed to leave the Santiago Bernabeu. As a result, Mourinho may turn his attention to Godin, who has a €35m release clause written into his contract.

Mourinho ‘forgets’ about Ronaldo

Jose Mourinho conveniently forgot about Cristiano Ronaldo when talking of the football stars capable of creating the game’s greatest moments.

The Chelsea boss was asked about the amazing strike by Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam in the game at Stamford Bridge over the weekend, yet and not mention his former player at Real Madrid among his list of greats.

“It was a fantastic goal and one which any of the world’s best players would like to have scored,” Mourinho told reporters.
