Pallotta jokes about Messi again

Roma President James Pallotta has made another joke over the signing of Lionel Messi from Barcelona.

Last week Pallotta joked he would forgive Barca for snapping up winger Malcom from under the Italian club’s noses if they would send Messi in return, having said that the Catalans had acted “unethically”.

Pallotta has now come out with another joking comment, claiming that the Serie A club are ‘already in Barcelona’ trying to sign the Argentine.

Barca VP takes dig at Real Madrid

Barcelona Vice-President Josep Vives has aimed a thinly-disguised jibe at Real Madrid over the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese left the Santiago Bernabeu for Juventus for around €100m, but Vives maintained Barca would have done things differently if Lionel Messi had been placed in the same situation.

“I can’t imagine a situation in which Messi doesn’t stay with us,” Vives told assembled media at a Press conference on the club’s pre-season tour of North America.

Malcom: I dreamed of Barca

Malcom has finally been presented as a Barcelona player following his move from Bordeaux this week.

Malcom was unveiled in Portland on the club’s pre-season tour of the United States, where they will play their first game of the International Champions Cup against Tottenham Hotspur in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The Brazilian donned his Barca shirt for the first time at sponsor Nike’s headquarters, before declaring that he had always dreamed of playing for the Spanish champions.

Carvajal talks Messi and Ronaldo

Dani Carvajal has given his opinion on the never-ending debate over who is the greatest – Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo?

The Real Madrid defender played alongside Ronaldo for a number of years at the Santiago Bernabeu, but now the Portuguese has completed his move to Juventus he felt free to air his views on the pair, who have both won five Ballon d’Ors.

“I think Cristiano and Messi are hardly comparable,” Carvajal told BeIn Sports. “They are obviously two of the best players in history, but they are very different.

Aguero-Messi now “impossible”

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero concedes it is now “impossible” for him to share a dressing room at club level with Lionel Messi.

Aguero, who is recovering from a knee injury that has kept him out for a month as he prepares for the World Cup with Argentina, was asked if he ever envisaged linking up with Messi away from the international stage at this time in his career.

Messi ‘best I’ve seen’ claims Iniesta

Andres Iniesta has described Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi as the best player he has ever seen.

Iniesta was interviewed by RAC1 to commemorate his 22 years with the Blaugrana, which comes to an end this weekend when he leaves the club.

However, he did not want to get involved in who is the world’s greatest footballer – Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo, with both players having won five Ballon d’Ors.

“Messi is definitely the best I’ve seen on a football pitch and there is nobody else like him,” declared the 34-year-old.

Valverde: Leo expectation ‘incredible’

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde made a positive assessment of the friendly his team played in South Africa against Mamelodi Sundowns.

Barca cruised to 3-1 victory thanks to goals from Ousmane Dembele, Luis Suarez and Paco Alcacer, but Valverde was pleased that the locals were able to see their idols up front – especially Lionel Messi.

“The expectation that Leo generates is incredible; they cheered him from the first moment, not only in the stadium, because they did it from the moment we set foot in the country,” Valverde said to reporters.

Leo: Neymar at Madrid ‘terrible’

Lionel Messi has confessed that it would be terrible for him to see Neymar playing for Real Madrid next season.

Brazilian star Neymar has been linked with a move to Los Blancos from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, and Messi conceded it would be a disappointment for Barcelona and their supporters to see him in the Spanish capital after his time with the Catalans.

Paulinho: I’m here to help Messi

Barcelona midfielder Paulinho says that one of his jobs in the team is to work hard so Lionel Messi can continue to be the world’s best player.

The Brazilian, speaking ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Olympiacos, also thanked Messi for his help whilst he adapted to his new club and maintained it was a ‘privilege’ to play alongside the Argentine.

Neymar’s €3m Ballon d’Or bonus

French newspaper Le Parisien has revealed what Neymar will earn if the Paris Saint-Germain star ends up winning the Ballon d’Or.

PSG paid Barcelona a world record €222m for the Brazilian at the start of this season and his contract it alleged to have a large clause in it if he is successful.

The player has a contract with the Ligue 1 giants until 2022 and every time he wins the award before then he will receive an extra €3m.
