Spain want Wolves winger Adama Traore – Robert Moreno

Spain boss Robert Moreno has underlined his desire to include Wolves winger Adama Traore in senior national squads.

The live-wire winger was included for this month’s European Championships qualification matches against Malta and Romania but had to later withdraw due to injury.

Moreno explained how the call-up should not have come as a surprise as he has been on La Roja’s preliminary squad list and is a player who is known well by both the boss and his staff.

The 23-year-old has represented Spain at under-16, under-17, under-19 and under-21 levels, but has never before earned a cap for the senior team.

Earlier this month, the former Barcelona youth player declared that he wanted to represent Mali, which then preceded his call-up to the senior team of Spain.

“We are looking for players who unbalance and disrupt the other team,” Moreno told a pre-match press conference, as cited by Marca.

“That is Adama's main skill, above everything else. It is a pity that he was injured. I talked to him, I wanted to play with Spain, but he said he could not come and that this made him feel bad.

“He was in the last two prelists. I know him well, it is not a surprise or a whim that is he is with us.”

Traore’s older brother Moha is also a footballer who has spent the entirety of his professional career in Spain, and currently plays for Hercules.
