Real Valladolid confirm Enes Unal loan return

Real Valladolid have confirmed that Enes Unal will return to the club on loan from Villarreal for the 2019-120 La Liga season.

The Turkish international spent the 2018-19 campaign on loan at the Estadio Jose Zorrillo, and manager Sergio Gonzalez was impressed enough to ask Villarreal to a second successive loan deal.

With competition for places in attack likely to increase at El Madrigal for the 2019-20 season, boss Javier Calleja was happy for the former Manchester City youth team player to return to Valladolid.

Villarreal had three players reach double figures in La Liga goals in 2018-19, in Karl Toko Ekambi, Gerard Moreno and Carlos Bacca, and Calleja is look to add more fire power in the coming weeks.

Despite only scoring three league goals last season, Unal did win himself some admirers amongst the Valladolid fan base, operating as an effective foil for strike partner Oscar Plano.

Some reports are claiming that Villarreal have insisted on a compulsory purchase clause being inserted into the loan, as they look to shift a big earner off the their wage bill, however neither club has confirmed this.
