Valencia vs Real Sociedad

Both Valencia and Real Sociedad may well be glad that this Saturday teatime match is being played at Mestalla.

Valencia are collectively baffled by an away record so dire it’s undermining their entire season. Los Che are officially the worst La Liga side on their travels after last Saturday’s 4-0 defeat at Malaga.

“If we will continue like this we will not fight for anything this season,” lamented striker Jonas. “Away from home we are suffering.”

They did at least get some respite in the Copa del Rey midweek, defeating Llagostera 3-1 on the night and 5-1 on aggregate.

The same cannot be said for Real Sociedad, whose elimination from the same tournament by Segunda Division outfit Cordoba prompted fans to call for Philippe Montanier’s head – hence their happiness to go on the road.

“I’m very hurt that we failed to progress,” groaned the Frenchman. “But we are on a good run of form in the League and we will go to Valencia to win.”

Kick off: Saturday December 1, 17.00 (BST)
