Real Madrid vs Athletic Bilbao

Benat Etxebarria recognises Athletic Bilbao’s task in facing Real Madrid this weekend, even as he prioritises a result over a performance.

The Basque Country outfit travel down to the capital for Sunday lunch at the Santiago Bernabeu in a clash between two teams currently with a 100 per cent record in the League.

For their creative midfielder, the team will have to be on top of their game if they are to break Los Blancos’ winning start.

“We can look to take advantage of all the talk about Bale and Diego Lopez-Iker Casillas, but we also have to play a great game in every line of the pitch. They can score a goal in any action,” warned Benat this week.

“The most important thing is that we have six points. I feel good physically, I hope that we do things right at the Bernabeu.

“The start has been positive, we all want to play better, the fans and us.

“The opponent can make you play in one way or another, we want to be the master of the game from now on.

“I would sign now for picking up a result against Madrid whilst playing badly, the most important thing is to win and to be as high in the table as possible.

“It will be a joy to take one point or three. Madrid are very complete, at the back they are strong, in midfield they have quality and in attack they make things happen.”
