The Monday night game is a Madrid derby of sorts between surprise packages Rayo Vallecano and Getafe.
Rayo, from the neighbourhood of Vallecas, and Getafe, from an outlying suburb, have both exceeded expectations so far and start the weekend eighth and 10th respectively, separated by a point.
“Until we have enough points to stay in the Division we will not think about anything else,” insists Rayo President Raul Martin Presa.
“Last year during the second round of fixtures, in Week 28, the team was within three points of the Champions League and at the end, with a goal in the last minute, we miraculously survived relegation.”
Getafe have won three of their last five meetings with the Franjirrojos, but Rayo did the double over them last term.
Kick off: Monday January 7, 7.00 (BST)
