Malaga vs Real Sociedad

Malaga will hope their latest Champions League success can inspire them to halt a League slump against Real Sociedad.

The Costa del Sol outfit qualified for the last 16 of the prestigious continental tournament with a 1-1 draw at Milan on Tuesday, going five points clear at the top of their group with two games to spare.

“It is a major achievement,” Coach Manuel Pellegrini acknowledged. “We will now continue competing.”

It's in La Liga where they're required to be more competitive however, as Pellegrini's men have won just one of their last four and slipped from third to fifth as a result.

Sociedad aren't faring any better, the Basque derby being their only victory in the last six, and not for the first time this season President Jokin Aperribay has had to come out in defence of Coach Philippe Montanier.

“To sack Montanier would be the easiest and cheaper option but it would not solve Real Sociedad’s problems. Montanier is strong and committed and not some alien from outwith our organisation.”

Kick off: Saturday November 10th, 9.00 (BST)
