Jesus Gamez has reflected that whilst Malaga are clear in their targets for the season, they are currently only thinking towards short-term objectives.
The Anchovies are much-changed from last season’s side that reached the Champions League quarter-finals and finished sixth in La Liga.
Whilst the team have begun with two defeats and a draw this term, their full-back has asserted his confidence in their direction, even if it is not focused right now beyond Sunday’s home game with Rayo Vallecano.
“The squad has got very clear ideas and objectives,” reflected Gamez to reporters this week.
“These will start to become more evident when there are only 10 games left before the end of the season, but for now we’re only focusing on Sunday’s match.
“Rayo like to maintain possession, so we’re looking forward to their attitude to this match on Sunday.
“Malaga have worked a little more on the defensive aspects, having faced teams with strong strike-forces in the opening weeks.
“Against Rayo we will have to keep with that mentality, but also push more in our offensive nature.”
