Overachievers meet underachievers when Levante welcome Athletic Bilbao to the Estadio Ciutat de Valencia.
Levante are still 6th despite their surprisingly heavy 3-0 loss to fellow surprise package Rayo Vallecano before Christmas.
Marcelo Bielsa’s Athletic are still mired down in lower mid-table, 13th in spite of a run of two wins in three games.
“It is the first home game of the year, much is at stake,” stated Levante stalwart Sergio Ballesteros. “We want to reach 30 points. We want to start the year with a victory at home, improving on the points tally we managed in the first round of fixtures from last season.”
The Granotes only two home losses this term have come against the big two, Barcelona and Real Madrid.
