Elche vs Real Madrid

Elche winger Fidel Chaves has recognised the task in facing Real Madrid this midweek, but determines that his side are looking for a result.

The promoted outfit are one of three teams five weeks into the League season without a win, as they host Carlo Ancelotti’s side this Wednesday evening.

Despite the odds stacked very much against Week 6 providing the Alicante outfit with a first three points, one of their party has optimism.

“We know the potential of Real Madrid, they are one of the best teams in the world and we know that it will be tough to beat them, but as is with every week, we will play to try to make sure that the points remain at the Martinez Valero,” Fidel reflected today.

“During the game, anything is possible. It is 90 minutes long and we will try to be strong and have intensity, to not allow them control.

“We are a small team but we have our weapons and we will try to exploit them. There is no need to change our way of playing for the fact that we are playing Real Madrid.

“We are working so as not to leave any spaces for Real Madrid, because we know that they can do much harm if given metres, because they have people who are very quick.

“We have to be very careful and keep the lines of the team close together, because it will not be comfortable in the field as they have players of great quality, the best in the world.”

Fidel was asked which player he will be looking to swap shirts with at full-time.

“I would sign now to have the three points and not take any shirt. This is a very nice game that we all want to play in, but the anecdote of asking a Real Madrid player for his shirt will stop with the game.”
