Deportivo vs Real Betis

Deportivo La Coruna are encouraged by climbing out of the drop zone but must be careful against Real Madrid’s conquerors Real Betis.

Depor moved up to 17th after Sunday’s 1-1 draw away to Athletic Bilbao.

“Did moving out of the relegation help psychologically? Sure,” reflected boss Jose Luis Oltra. “But we have to take a further step forward. If the League ended today our goal would be met and we would all be happy.”

Betis redeemed theirselves for the derby humiliation suffered against Sevilla by beating Jose Mourinho’s Galacticos last Saturday.

However the Verdiblancos must be cautious because it’s fixtures like this – that on paper they should win comfortably – that have proved problematic this term.

“I can only be proud of the players,” said Coach Pepe Mel after the midweek Copa del Rey trouncing of Real Valladolid. “We want to have a good tournament because last year we did horribly.”
