Atletico are second, 13 points clear of seventh placed Sevilla, but not as clear favourites as it might seem at first glance. Los Colcheneros’ recent wins have been narrow and unconvincing.
“We did not have the necessary intensity,” admitted Diego Simeone after Thursday’s 1-0 victory over Hapoel Tel Aviv. “But the facts speak louder than words and on Sunday there is a very important game.”
Sevilla are still buzzing from their shock 5-1 thrashing of Real Betis in last Sunday’s derby.
“What has changed is the belief in me, which Michel has given me,” revealed two goal hero Jose Antonio Reyes.
