Atletico Madrid vs Deportivo

Atletico Madrid will strive to avoid a third consecutive loss against a surprisingly confident Deportivo La Coruna.

After last weekend’s derby defeat to Real Madrid Atleti lost 1-0 to Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League on Thursday night, thereby surrendering first place in a group where they had looked a country mile ahead of the opposition.

“We were very bad in the first half, but in the second half we were better,” reflected Coach Diego Simeone. “I think we deserved a draw.”

Visitors Depor are second bottom and have won just twice all season but midfielder Alex Bergantinos says the Galicians will not settle for a draw at the Vicente Calderon.

“We have to win, you can never accept anything less. I am totally convinced of our chances.”

Kick off: Sunday December 9, 6.00 (BST)
