Athletic Bilbao are confident they are on the right track performance-wise but a result is needed for validation against Getafe.
Los Leones suffered their seventh defeat in all competitions against Lyon on Thursday, and again, like in Valencia last weekend, it was the concession of late goals that killed them.
“The negative thing has been our results but on the positive side we are improving,” stated midfielder Oscar de Marcos. “We played a complete game but the last few minutes cost us the match.”
Inconsistent Getafe have basked in the glow of the top half and drifted dangerously close to the bottom three at different points this season.
“We could have had 13 points and taken a step forward,” said boss Luis Garcia Plaza after last Sunday's home loss to Levante. “La Liga is very even. There are teams that go from being up to down.”
