Athletic Bilbao and Celta Vigo are level on points going into their meeting at San Mames on Sunday.
Ordinarily Athletic would be big favourites but several factors will give Celta encouragement. One, they are no longer pointless on the road, having beaten Real Zaragoza two weeks ago. Two, their fellow Galicians Deportivo took a point at San Mames recently. Three, Athletic have the worst defensive record in the division. And four Marcelo Bielsa’s side were in Europa League action on Thursday.
“Bielsa is a football junkie,” said Celestes midfielder Quique de Lucas, who worked under El Loco in the past at Espanyol. “He always makes you think. But we are more settled than before, looking to set the tempo in games.”
Celta and Athletic are 14th and 15th respectively but the former are 10 better off in terms of goal difference.
