Coach Zinedine Zidane

Former Real Madrid player Zinedine Zidane was appointed in January 2016 to replace Rafa Benitez, who lasted seven months on the Santiago Bernabeu bench.

Zidane, a Champions League winner with Los Blancos, had been in charge of the club's B team, Real Madrid Castilla, and was assistant to Carlo Ancelotti when Madrid won their 10th European Cup, the much-desired Decima, in 2014. However, the Frenchman would replicate his former mentor – and in much-quicker time – as he masterminded another triumph just five months into his promotion.
