Real Sociedad boss Imanol Alguacil signs new contract

Real Sociedad have confirmed that manager Imanol Alguacil has agreed a new deal with the Basque club.

The former defender, who played over 100 La Liga games for the club during the 1990's, was promoted from reserve team manager in December 2018, following the departure of Asier Garitano.

The previous agreement between Imanol and the club was that he would work on a one-year rolling deal, which would be renegotiated at the end of the current season.

However following an impressive start to the La Liga season, which has seen Sociedad challenge for a shock Champions League qualification place, the club have now tied him down until June 2021.

Imanol told an interview with the club's official website that he was happy to sign the new deal, adding that he feels valued by both the club and the supporters this season.

Sociedad kick off their La Liga campaign in 2020 with a home game against Villarreal tomorrow, before heading to Cueta in Copa del Rey action, followed by games against Real Betis and Real Mallorca to complete January.
