Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang wants Arsenal exit amid Real Madrid interest

Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang wants to leave the club amid interest from Real Madrid, say The Independent.

Aubameyang, 30, has been prolific for the North London club since his January 2018 switch from the Bundesliga, scoring 54 goals in 84 appearances.

It had been thought that the recent sacking of Unai Emery coupled with the arrival of new boss Mikel Arteta may have persuaded the Gabonese striker to remain at the club, but this may not have been the case.

Earlier this month, El Mundo Deportivo cited a report from British journalist Duncan Castles, who claims representatives of both Madrid and Arsenal have held talks about a swap deal including out-of-favour Los Blancos striker Luka Jovic for Gunners hitman Aubameyang.

Jovic has been a fringe figure to date this campaign, starting just four matches and scoring once – in the 5-0 league victory over Leganes.

The Serbian international joined the Spanish giants ahead of the start of the season from Eintracht Frankfurt in a €60m deal, however he has struggled to make an impact in the Spanish capital.

Diario Sport recently reported on Barcelona’s interest in Aubameyang but stated that whilst he always preferred a move to Real Madrid but that his intention is to play in Spain and would be open to a move to the Camp Nou.

The report in The Independent also claims Mesut Ozil want to leave Arsenal amid interest from Fenerbahce.
