Barcelona to submit VAR complaint to the RFEF

Barcleona are set to contact the Spanish Football Association (RFEF) following VAR controversy in their 2-2 La Liga draw at Real Sociedad.

Goals from Antoine Griezmann and Luis Suarez sealed a point for Ernesto Valvede's side at the Anoeta, but they were denied a late penalty for a potential foul on Gerard Pique by referee Javier Rojas.

Rojas incurred the wrath of the Barcelona players for refusing to consult VAR, and for the technology not requesting that he take a closer look at the clash betwen Pique and Sociedad defender Diego Llorente..

According to reports in Marca, club president Josep Bartomeu will know write a letter to RFEF president Luis Rubiales to complain about Rojas' performance and the apparent double standards, after a penalty was awarded in the first half for a similar incident involving Sergio Busquets and Llorente.

The club are yet to officially comment on the complaint to the authorities, but Head of Institutional Relations, Guillermo Amor stated his frustration at the end of the game.

"I think it (the Pique incident) was a penalty."

"Everyone could see it was a penalty."
