Ivan Rakitic rejects Barcelona exit in January

Ivan Rakitic will not be leaving Barcelona in January, according to reports in Marca today.

The Croatian international has been consistently linked with a move away from the Camp Nou this season, despite the player himself stating that he wished to remain at the club.

However, with no progress on his contract talks in recent weeks, the rumours have increased, with Serie A pair Juventus and Inter Milan reportedly interested in the former Sevilla midfielder, as well as Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund.

But his situation on the pitch has changed in the last month, as he has returned as a key player for Enresto Valverde, starting and impressing in their last four games.

He is also likely to start in the El Clasico tie with Real Madrid next week, with Brazilian international Arthur Melo struggling to overcome an injury.

The increase in playing time has now reportedly any chance of him leaving during the winter market, however he could be open to a summer move away, if a new contract is not agreed.

Valverde has acknowledged previously that his squad is overstocked with midfielders, and he is considering loan and permanent moves to even out his side.
