Julian Nagelsmann ‘dreams’ of Barcelona job

RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann ‘dreams’ of one day managing Barcelona, according to a report in El Mundo Deportivo.

The 32-year-old took the helms at Leipzig this summer after three years in the hotseat at fellow Bundesliga club Hoffenheim.

He led Hoffenheim to avoid relegation before qualifying them for their first ever campaign in the Champions League the following season with a top four finish.

The club once again qualified for Champions League the following campaign and that prompted high-flying Leipzig to appoint him for this summer.

The managerial position at the Camp Nou is constantly in the rumour mill with its current incumbent Ernesto Valverde under pressure, although this has eased with a recent run of victories.

“I have said it many times. Barcelona is a beautiful city, a beautiful club. But this is not the only club that is attractive,” Nagelsmann told ZDF, as cited by the paper.

“It is true that there was an interest (in him, from Borussia Dortmund). In football, time and form are always the key, and that did not fit, so I was not going to join Dortmund. The timing was not appropriate, and Borussia did not want to wait.”

Nagelsmann was 28 when appointed at Hoffenheim, making him the youngest manager in the history of the Bundesliga.
