Raphael Varane confident ahead of tough Real Madrid fixture list

Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane is relishing a difficult run of games in the coming weeks for Zinedine Zidane's side.

The French international scored his first club goal of the season in 2-0 La Liga win at home to Espanyol, and they are now second in the table, behind leaders Barcelona on goal difference.

Los Blancos have four games in domestic and European action before the winter break, and Varane is confident of positive results.

"We have a run of complicated games before Christmas," he told an interview with Movistar, reported in Diario Sport.

"But we are prepared, and we will be full of confidence."

"We will keep looking to maintain our level of performance and end the year with a strong run of results."

Real Madrid head to Club Brugge in Champions League action in midweek, with Zidane expected to make sweeping changes as they have already secured their qualification for the last 16 stage.

That is followed by a trip to Valencia and a home game with Athletic Bilbao, either side of a crunch El Clasico battle away at Barcelona on December 18.
