Barcelona: Fresh reports of interest in Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

There are renewed claims that Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is a transfer target for Spanish champions Barcelona.

Reputable British-based the Times report that the Gabonese striker faces an uncertain future and is not willing to commit to the North London club in the long-term.

It follows a report in El Mundo Deportivo claims that the forward is not motivated at Arsenal due to not playing Champions League football, while his contract expires in the summer of 2021.

Last week, Diario Sport said the striker has always preferred a move to Real Madrid but that his intention is to play in Spain and would be open to a move to the Camp Nou.

Indeed, the same outlet highlights how Ousmane Dembele – his former Borussia Dortmund teammate – gave him a Blaugrana shirt over the weekend on a visit to Catalonia.

A report in El Desmarque earlier this month claimed the Gunners have told the Gabonese hitman that they are willing to listen to offers for him should he want to leave, in light of his contract expiring in the summer of 2021.

That report added that Madrid are one such club interested and would be prepared to pay in excess of €70m to land him, while El Chiringuito said that Barcelona are interested in the former Borussia Dortmund man.

The 30-year-old has been prolific for the North London club since his January 2018 switch from the Bundesliga, scoring 50 goals in 79 appearances.

That report claims that the Catalan giants view Aubameyang as a potential replacement for Luis Suarez, who celebrates his 33rd birthday in January.

Aubameyang has been announced as the new club captain at the Emirates Stadium to replace Granit Xhaka.
