Real Madrid seal Champions League last 16 qualification with 2-2 PSG draw

Real Madrid sealed their place in the Champions League last 16 for the 23rd successive season with a 2-2 draw at home to PSG.

Zinedine Zidane's side had already qualified prior to kick off, after Galatasaray drew 1-1 at home to Club Brugge, but they were undone by two late goals from the Ligue 1 giants.

Karim Benzema headed in his 13th goal of the season, capitalising on a loose ball inside the box, after Isco's shot hit the post.

Los Blancos had the better chances before the break, with former keeper Keylor Navas making a string of saves from Benzema, Isco, Dani Carvajal and Toni Kroos before the break.

Despite their first half dominance, Madrid received a real helping hand just before the break as VAR controversially overturned a penalty and a red card against Thibaut Courtois for catching Mauro Icardi, after an alleged foul in the earlier build up.

Zidane's continued in the ascendancy after the restart, with Navas saving again from Benzema, and Belgian international Eden Hazard.

Benzema added a second with ten minutes to go, as he nodded home Marcelo's whipped cross.

But that two goal lead lasted less than a minute, as Kylian Mbappe tapped home following a flowing counter attack.

Thomas Tuchel's side snatched a draw on 85 minutes, as Pablo Sarabia reacted quickly to fire home from 15 yards.

Substitute Gareth Bale almost wrestled back a win for Madrid in added time, but his driven free kick came back off the post.
