Real Madrid secure hard fought 3-1 win at home to Leganes

Real Madrid extended their unbeaten La Liga run to four games, with a 3-1 victory at home to Real Sociedad.

Zinedine Zidane's side remain in second place in the La Liga table, behind leaders Barcelona on goal difference, after they fought back to secure a vital victory against Imanol Alguacil's visitors.

The Basque side took a shock lead inside the first two minutes, as Willian Jose capitalised on Sergio Ramos' poor back pass to confidently slot past Thibaut Courtois.

Los Blancos reacted well to going behind, with Karim Benzema and Eden Hazard both testing La Real keeper Remiro before the half hour mark, and it was the former French international that found a reply on 37 minutes.

Luka Modric whipped in a free kick, and Benzema got across two defenders to sweep home from close range, for his 12th La Liga goal of the season.

Zidane's side picked up where they left off after the break, as Uruguayan international Federico Valverde netted his second goal in successive games, with a deflected 25-yard strike.

However, the visitors stayed in the game, with Real Madrid loanee Martin Odegaard catching the eye, as they pressed for an equaliser.

Zidane brought Gareth Bale on for the final 20 minutes, and the Welsh international played a key role Madrid´s third on 75 minutes.

The former Tottenham caused problems with his pace, and his deep cross was headed back into the danger zone by Benzema, and Modric arrived on cue sweep home the clinching goal.

Bale did have chances to score a vital goal in the dying minutes, but Remiro remained alert to keep him at bay.
