Real Madrid: Defender Eder Militao on the fringes

Real Madrid spent €50m to land Eder Militao from FC Porto this summer but he is struggling for game-time, as Diario AS reports.

The report calculates that the Brazil international has barely accumulated 300 minutes of the 1,440 that Madrid have played this season – or about 21% of total match time.

It also adds that Nacho Fernandez, who has been injured for a month and a half, has played 225 minutes, only 75 minutes less than Militao.

Indeed, the Brazilian – who has not been injured at all this campaign – has not played a minute of Madrid’s last five matches, since starting in the 1-0 defeat at Real Mallorca.

That has been one of just four appearances for the summer signing, who also featured in the 3-0 loss at Paris Saint-Germain alongside the home league wins over Levante and Osasuna.

There is said to be concern that Zinedine Zidane is using Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane almost exclusively, while Militao, 21, is also behind Marquinhos and Thiago Silva for the Brazil national team.
